About SRC
The beginning
How the club
came together
Joel and Anne Simpson moved to Sewickley from New Jersey in 2020. Back home, they had been part of the Raritan Valley Road Runners, a club where people ran together every week regardless of pace, stuck around after, and genuinely looked out for one another.
When they got to Sewickley, that community did not exist yet. So they built it. On February 28, 2023, five to ten people showed up at the corner of Beaver and Broad for the first Tuesday run.
The group now draws 40 to 50 runners most weeks. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a member of RRCA, and it has not missed a Tuesday since that first one.
“A welcoming and energetic community of runners of all ages and paces.”
Joel and Anne Simpson, Co-Founders

What we stand for
How the club runs
Free to join, no barriers
Membership is free. A quick online waiver through RunSignUp is all it takes to join. No cost to participate — ever.
All paces, all experience levels
Sewickley Run Club has runners who have been at it for decades and runners who are lacing up for the first week in years. Both show up on Tuesday.
Community beyond running
The run is the reason people show up. The post-run conversations and friendships are why they keep coming back.
Local by design
The club routes run through the village of Sewickley. The races benefit local organizations. The group is rooted in this town.
